Rav Assaf Bednarsh

Rabbi Assaf Bednarsh received his semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, an affiliate of Yeshiva University. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.A. in Jewish History from Yeshiva University. Prior to his aliyah in 2004, he served as a Maggid Shiur and Assistant Director of Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program for Women in Advanced Talmudic Studies, and as a Rebbe in TMSTA – Yeshiva University High School. He currently holds the Ruth Buchbinder Mitzner Chair in Talmud and Jewish Law at Yeshiva University’s RIETS Kollel in Jerusalem, and teaches at Yeshivat Har Etzion. He lives in Alon Shevut with his wife Leora and their seven children.

Leora Bednarsh is a graduate of Drisha’s Scholars’ Circle and the Keren Ariel program for Yoatzot Halacha at Nishmat. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics from Princeton University. Prior to her aliyah in 2004, Leora taught Talmud and Halacha at the Yeshivah of Flatbush High School, her alma mater, and at Drisha’s Continuing Education program. In Israel, Leora works as a Yoetzet Halacha on the Nishmat hotline, and teaches Talmud and Halacha, at Midreshet Moriah, MMY, Sha’alvim for Women, and Yeshiva University’s Midrashiyah women’s leadership program.

Rav Dr. Shlomo Brody

Rav Dr. Shlomo Brody

Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Brody is the executive director of the Halachic Organ Donor Society and the Jewish Law Live columnist for the Jerusalem Post. He previously served as the founding director of the Tikvah Overseas Student Institute and co-dean of Tikvah Online Academy, a senior instructor at Yeshivat Hakotel, and as a junior research fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute.

Brody’s writings focus on making Jewish texts accessible to broader audiences while applying them to contemporary social and ethical dilemmas. His work has been cited in Israeli Supreme Court decisions and has appeared in MosaicFirst ThingsTradition, The FederalistTabletTzoharThe ForwardHakirahJewish Review of Books, and other popular publications.

His first book, A Guide to the Complex: Contemporary Halakhic Debates (Maggid), received a 2014 National Jewish Book Award. His next book, Judaism Confronts War: Jewish Military Ethics for the 21st Century is scheduled to be published in both Hebrew and English in winter 2023.

A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College, he received rabbinic ordination from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate, an MA in Jewish philosophy at the Hebrew University, and his PhD from Bar Ilan University Law School, where he continues to serve as a post-doctoral fellow.

Rabbi Brody has been an invited scholar-in-residence at over 40 distinguished congregations and campuses in the United States, Canada, England, and Israel. Originally from Houston, Texas, Rabbi Brody now lives in Modi’in with his wife, Rocky, and five children.

Mrs. Nitsana Darshan-Leitner

Israeli activist attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has been leading the legal fight against terror financing, the anti-Israel boycott campaigns (BDS) and combating the multitude of lawfare tactics utilized against the Jewish State by its enemies. As the president of the Israel based civil rights organization, Shurat HaDin–Israel Law Center, she has represented hundreds of terror victims in legal actions against terror organizations and their supporters. Ms. Darshan-Leitner has successfully recovered more than two hundred million dollars in compensation on their behalf. In recent years, Ms. Darshan-Leitner initiated a legal campaign to deprive terrorists of social media resources such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, which they use to incite violence against Jews and promote terror attacks.

In 2016, Ms. Darshan-Leitner was chosen as one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world by the Jerusalem Post, and named by the Israeli Forbes magazine as one of the 50 most influential Israeli women. A mother of six, including triplets, Ms. Darshan-Leitner is a graduate of the Bar-Ilan University Law Faculty and holds an MBA from Manchester University.

Beatie Deutsch is the Israeli national champion in the marathon and half marathon. As a mother of five young children, she has learned to apply her training to the real marathon of life. Beatie took up running just four years ago and recently went pro with the goal of qualifying for Tokyo 2020 and representing Israel in the Olympics. More than anything else, her journey has empowered her to dream big and keep pushing, a message Beatie is passionate about sharing with other women.

Rav Cobi Ebrahimoff

Rabbi Cobi Ebrahimoff is UK Director of Education at The Rabbi Sacks Legacy, where his primary focus is to bring the teachings of Rabbi Sacks into schools and spearhead the development of innovative educational resources.

Prior to this role, he enjoyed a highly successful tenure as the Headteacher at the Independent Jewish Day School and, most recently, as the Rabbi of Tribe at the United Synagogue. Rabbi Ebrahimoff continues to serve as Executive Headteacher for King Solomon Schools (Israel).

Rabbi Ebrahimoff’s educational background includes a BA in Education from Tel Aviv University, a Masters in Educational Management from the University of Leeds, and a National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership from UCL. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel while studying at Karnei Shomron Hesder Yeshiva. With over two decades of experience in the field of education in both the UK and Israel, Rabbi Ebrahimoff has been recognised for his outstanding contributions. Notably, he was awarded National Leader of Education by the Department for Education for promoting school improvement across England.

Elli Fischer is an independent writer, translator, and rabbi. Previously, he was the JLIC rabbi and campus educator at the University of Maryland. He holds BA and MS degrees from Yeshiva University, rabbinical ordination from Israel’s Chief Rabbinate, and is working toward a doctorate in Jewish History at Tel Aviv University.

He is a founding editor of The Lehrhaus, a web magazine of contemporary Jewish thought. His original writing has appeared in Commentary, Moment, Jewish Review of Books, Mosaic, the Journal of Halakha and Contemporary Society, and other print and online publications, and he often writes for the New York Jewish Week. Among the issues he writes about are religion and politics in Israel; the interplay between legal and nonlegal elements of the Talmud; Jewish religious culture; and Central European Jewish History. He is the translator of By Faith Alone: The Story of Rabbi Yehuda Amital and the editor of Rabbi Eliezer Melamed’s Peninei Halakha series in English. Originally from Baltimore, he currently resides in Modiin, Israel, with his wife and four children.

Rabbanit Rachelle Sprecher Fraenkel teaches Halacha at Nishmat, where she also serves as a Yoetzet Responder on Nishmat’s Golda Koschitzky Women’s Halachic Hotline. She is also the director of Matan’s Hilkhata (Advanced Halacha) Program. Rabbanit Rachelle studied at Bar Ilan University, Midreshet Lindenbaum, and Nishmat’s Keren Ariel Yoatzot Halacha Training Program, and was in the first graduating class of Matan’s Talmudic Institute. Recognized as one of Israel’s most inspiring women, Rabbanit Rachelle speaks on behalf of Jewish unity before audiences across the Jewish world. She is a co-founder of The Jerusalem Unity Prize and Unity Day project, in memory of her 16 year-old son, Naftali הי”ד, who was kidnapped and murdered by Palestinian terrorists in June, 2014.

Tova Ganzel is a Senior Lecturer at the Multidisciplinary Department of Jewish Studies at the Bar-Ilan University and Head of the Cramim Jewish Studies Honors Program. Tova was the director of the Midrasha – Institute for Advanced Torah Studies at Bar-Ilan University and is a certified women’s halakhic advisor (yo’etzet halakha). Her work is widely published, and she is the recipient of numerous academic awards. She lives in Jerusalem with her husband and family.

Tehila Gimpel holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Jewish Philosophy and Law, and a Master’s degree in Jewish Law. In addition to practicing as an attorney Israel, she is pursuing her doctorate in Jewish Law at the Hebrew University and has received numerous awards for her research in Talmudic Law. Tehila lives with her husband Jeremy on the Arugot Farm, where they raise their six adorable children. Together they have established a center for Torah study, agriculture and love of the Land of Israel.

Mrs. Karen Hochhauser is an administrator, teacher & the Director of Alumnae Affairs at Tiferet, a post high school midrasha in Ramat Beit Shemesh. Before making Aliyah in 2007, she was a teacher & the director of Israel guidance at Hillel Yeshiva High School in Deal, NJ. She also previously served as an educational coordinator & researcher for the Agency for Jewish Education & the Jewish Federation of Detroit. Mrs. Hochhauser is originally from New Jersey has a BA in English Literature & MA in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University.

Dr Carl Hochhauser

Dr. Carl Hochhauser is the yeshiva psychologist and a teacher in Jewish philosophy at Yeshivat Hakotel. He also works as a pediatric psychologist at the Zichron Menachem Foundation for Children with Cancer and maintains a private practice in Beit Shemesh and Yerushalayim. Prior to making Aliya in 2007 with his family, Dr. Hochhauser worked at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. He holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University, with a focus on adolescents and young adults and on pediatric oncology.

Rabbi Jesse Horn is a Senior Ram (Rosh Metivta) at Yeshivat Hakotel. He is known for his methodological & Brisker approach to Gemara, his creative shiurim in Tanach, & his warm personality. In his shiurim, he motivates students to rigorously dissect texts, to ask major questions on the sugya at hand, & to intuit the interpretations offered by the Rishonim. Rabbi Horn also teaches at MMY & has taught in other seminaries, such as Shalvim for Women & Midreshet HaRova. Rabbi Horn is the author of Double Take, a book about Biblical personalities, as well as numerous other articles for Beis Yitzhak, Arutz Sheva, World Mizrachi, & other scholarly publications. Rabbi Horn earned a B.A. in Judaic Studies & an M.A. in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University. He received his ordination from Yeshiva University/RIETS.

Devorah Kay has been involved in both formal and informal education for the past 27 years. She has taught in Jewish day schools in South Africa, with her main focus being on Chumash and Nach. In addition, Devorah has worked in adult education. Devorah and her husband Avi made Aliyah in December 2020. Since the terrorist attack in November 2021, that claimed the life of their son Eli, Devorah has spoken on topics of hope, positivity and the choices we make, to communities around the world.

Rabbi Menachem Leibtag, founder of the Tanach Study Center www.tanach.org, is an internationally acclaimed bible scholar & pioneer of Jewish Education on the internet. His essays on Parshat ha’Shavua reflect his vibrant thematic-analytical approach, blending the methods of modern scholarship with traditional approaches. As a faculty member at Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel, he is best known for his ability to teach students how to study Tanach. Rabbi Dr. Benji Levy is the founding partner of Israel Impact Partners, which works with funders to accelerate the growth of the non-profits they care about, bringing together consultants, implementation specialists, and functional experts to make big things happen.

Rabbi Benji served as CEO of Mosaic United, a historic joint venture partnership between Israel and global Jewry to strengthen Jewish identity and connections to Israel for youth around the world. In this position, Rabbi Benji led a team that created a continuum strategy and launched four major initiatives to engage hundreds of thousands of youth across the Jewish globe. Previously he served for six years as the Dean of Moriah College in Sydney, Australia, one of the largest Jewish schools in the world with over 1,800 pre-kindergarten through high school students and 300 staff. There he led a renaissance in Jewish education, revitalizing many of the existing programs and founding many new initiatives.

Rabbi Benji was named as one of three top global change-makers working for Diaspora Jewry by leading Israeli newspaper, Makor Rishon, and awarded ‘Educator of the Year’ by JNF for his leadership and service to the Australian Jewish community. He received an Australian Postgraduate Award for his research in Jewish identity and published An Oasis In Time: Seven Thoughts for the Seventh Day with Maggid Books and Koren Publishing. Rabbi Benji serves as a reservist in the IDF’s Spokesperson Unit.

Rabbi Benji has a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Sydney and rabbinic ordination following his study at Yeshivat Har Etzion. He was awarded First Class Honors in Jewish Civilization Thought & Culture, has a BA in Media and Communications from the University of Sydney, as well as an Education degree from Herzog College, and completed the Principal’s Program at the Lookstein Centre in Bar Ilan University.

Rav Bentzi Mann is the Director of Mizrachi’s Schools Department. Rav Bentzi was born and raised in Israel to olim from the USA. He is an alumnus of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh Hesder program and the Chai Roi Leadership Institute at Bnei David Eli, received his B.Ed with the highest honor from Orot Yisrael, and holds an MBA from Hebrew University. In 5782, he returned to Israel following a successful 4-year shlichut in London, UK, as Senior Rabbi of Mill Hill East Jewish Community, and as a teacher, informal educator and chaplain (UJC) at JFS high school. Rav Bentzi was a leading educator for several Tribe summer camps, Shabbatons, and programs, and also taught Talmud at Bet Limmud – a partnership between LSJS and Mizrachi UK.

Rabbi David Milston is Director of the Overseas Program at Midreshet HaRova. Born & raised in London, Rabbi Milston earned a B.A. in Jewish Studies at Jews’ College where he became a talmid “muvhak” of Rabbi Isaac Bernstein zt”l. He studied for several years at Yeshivat Har Etzion under the guidance of Rav Yehuda Amital, zt”l and Rav Aharon Lichtenstein, zt”l, & received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Milston has written a number of books, including “The Three Pillars” on Parashat HaShavua, “Ki Va Moed” on the Jewish calendar, and “Eternity” on the Prophets. Most recently, he published the “Shirat David” Haggadah.

Rabbi Danny Mirvis is the Deputy CEO of World Mizrachi & the Rabbi of Ohel Moshe Synagogue in Herzliya Pituach.

Dublin-born & London-raised, Rabbi Mirvis is an alumnus of the Hesder program at Yeshivat Har Etzion. In 5782, he returned to Israel following his successful tenure as the Senior Rabbi of Mizrachi Melbourne.

During his six years in Australia, he served as the co-Vice President of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria, & the co-Chair of the Rabbinic Advisory Panel of the Melbourne Chevra Kadisha Cemeteries Trust. He led the Melbourne Beth Din review of Conversion Practices & Procedures, & through his Mizrachi role he provided Rabbinic leadership to its numerous Synagogues, Leibler Yavneh College, Bnei Akiva Melbourne, Kosher Australia & the Melbourne Eruv.

Rabbi Shimshon Nadel lives and teaches in Jerusalem, where he serves as Rabbi of Har Nof’s Kehilat Zichron Yosef, and Rosh Kollel of the Sinai Kollel and Hovevei Zion’s Kollel Boker. His articles on Jewish Law, Jewish History, Israel and Zionism have appeared in Techumin, Hakirah, The Journal of Halacha & Contemporary Society, Segula, Kol Hatorah, Kolmus, the Jerusalem Post, and the Jewish Press. He writes “Medina & Halacha: Exploring the Jewish State through the Lens of Jewish Law,” a popular weekly column looking at contemporary issues in Israel. His forthcoming book is Return Again: The Argument for Aliyah.

Before moving to Israel in 2009, Rabbi Nadel served as a rabbi in Nebraska and Connecticut.

Rav Doron Perez is the Executive Chairman of the Mizrachi World Movement. During his 15-year shlichut in South Africa, Rav Perez fulfilled multiple leadership roles, as Executive Director of Mizrachi South Africa, the Senior Rabbi of the Mizrachi Shul, & Head of the Yeshiva College school, the first & largest Torah school in Southern Africa. Rav Perez was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, & made Aliyah at the age of 18. He studied for 10 years in some of Israel’s leading Yeshivot, served in the IDF as part of the Hesder program, & completed his rabbinic ordination & a Bachelor of Education majoring in Jewish Philosophy. He is the author of the book Leading the Way, and a sought-after speaker and scholar-in-residence in communities in Israel & around the world.

Rabbi Hershel Schachter shlit”a

Rabbi Hershel Schachter שליט”א, a noted Talmudic scholar, has had a distinguished career with the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) for nearly 50 years. He joined the faculty in 1967, at the age of 26, the youngest Rosh Yeshiva at RIETS. Since 1971, Rabbi Schachter has been Rosh Kollel in RIETS’ Marcos and Adina Katz Kollel (Institute for Advanced Research in Rabbinics) and also holds the institution’s Nathan and Vivian Fink Distinguished Professorial Chair in Talmud.

Rabbi Dr. Sharon (Zewde) Shalom (born in Ethiopia, 1973) is a Rabbi, lecturer and Jewish author. He is a Rav of one of the Tzohar “Open Communities” in Kiryat Gat. He was born Zaude Tesfay in a Jewish community in the North of Ethiopia. He works as a Rabbi in the Merkaz Shapira Or Meofir special program for Ethiopian emigrants.

Rabbi Aviad Tabory teaches Gemara, Halacha, and Jewish Philosophy at Yeshivat Eretz HaTzvi in Jerusalem. In the summer, he serves as the Rosh Beit Midrash at Bnei Akiva’s Camp Stone. He studied at Yeshivat Ohr Etzion and Yeshivat Har Etzion and received semicha from the Israeli Rabbinate. Aviad has a degree in Jewish Education from Herzog College and is also a graduate of the Straus-Amiel rabbinical training programme. As well as teaching in a number of Israeli institutions, he also helped establish a new yeshiva high school in Sussia. He served as the Rav Shaliach of the Jewish Agency to Bnei Akiva in the UK and was the founding Community Rabbi of Alei Etzion in London. His book, State of Halakha: Israel’s History in Jewish Law was recently published by Koren.

Rav Taragin has completed a B.A. in Science & Philosophy at Yeshiva University & an M.A. in Jewish History & Education at Touro College (Israel). Rav Taragin is the Rav of Kehillat Eretz Chemdah in Katamon & was the founder & director of the Yeshivat Hakotel Community Education Conferences.

Shani Taragin is the educational director of Matan-Bellows Eshkolot Tanakh teachers’ professional development program & Mizrachi-MTVA Lapidot teachers of Torah shebe’al-peh. Shani serves on the advisory committee for the World Mizrachi Shalhevet program for shlichim & lectures on topics of Tanach, Jewish education, Jewish law & women’s health. Together with her husband, Reuven, she serves as Educational Director for World Mizrachi and as Rosh Beit Midrash for the Beit Midrash Program in Machaneh Moshava Pennsylvania during the summer.

Rabbi Gideon Weitzman heads PUAH’s English speaking section in Israel. Born in Britain, Rabbi Weitzman earned his rabbinic ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Weitzman was a visiting associate principal in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and is a regular contributor to the annual halachic compendium Techumin. His scholarly articles on IVF, sperm extraction, & genetic counseling have been published in The Journal of Genetic Counseling and The Journal of Early Human Development. He has lectured at major organizations such as National Council of Young Israel, the Rabbinical Council of California, Agudas Yisroel of America, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Columbia Medical Center, and Cornell Medical Center and more! Rabbi Weitzman teaches in at Midrasha College for Women, as well as other educational institutions in Jerusalem. He currently resides in Modiin where he serves as the Rabbi of the Merkaz Modiin Synagogue.

Rav Binyamin Zimmerman is an author and innovative Jewish educator who serves as the director of a number of educational organizations. He serves as director of Mizrachi Musmachim, a new state of the art semicha program for English speakers in Israel, is Educational Director of the Zomet Institute (Tzomet) of Halakha and Technology, Co-Director of Matan-Mizrachi’s Advanced Women’s Learning Program and founder and director of H.E.S.B.E.R. (hesber.org), an organization dedicated to producing powerful educational materials for students and communities. He is author of H.E.S.B.E.R.’s “From the Source; with Spirit” series of educational books which are used by more than 50 schools throughout the English-speaking Jewish world.

His background in Halakha and Technology, the interface of Israel, Judaism and modernity, and Contemporary Educational techniques for students of all ages have made him a sought out lecturer for schools, teacher-training seminars, and communities throughout the world.
